So, quick back of the envelope calculation: There are 2150 entries on wikipedia between the Marvel super villain category and the Marvel superhero category. Assuming that the 3.8% number is correct and not ridiculously low (and considering this is the first time I’ve ever heard a percentage less than 10 in the history of the ever ever), that means, rounding down, there should be 87 gay characters in Marvel (slightly over half should be villains, there are 901 hero entries and 1249 villain ones). So not only is the LGBT super* population nowhere near the 3.8% point, three people aren’t even 3.8% OF THE 3.8%.
